What is Pole World News?

Pole World News (PWN) began as an online magazine and has since evolved to host pole fitness related events. Their mission is to promote positive pole expression by presenting the personalities of the pole community and pole dance fitness in a positive, dynamic light. Pole World News was the first to hold an annual award gala in celebration of pole fitness. Referred to as “The Oscars of Pole Dancing” on Late Night w/ Seth Meyers, The PWN Awards have successfully celebrated achievement in the pole arts since 2013.

The Problem

“You’re taking pole dancing classes? So you’re a stripper?”

Today, pole dancing is officially recognized as a sport. But just a few years ago, it was stigmatized as an inappropriate sexual taboo which only belonged behind closed doors and in strip clubs.

The Goal

Erase the negative stigma surrounding pole dancing/fitness.

PWN was created to help legitimize pole dancing for what it is, an athletically intensive fitness regimen and competition sport.

The Solution

An entertainment company dedicated to promoting a positive image of pole dance and fitness.

My primary focus at PWN was design direction and brand consistency, but I did wear a few other hats.
